Four CHI Hospitals in Top 100 for Cardiovascular Care

11/17/2009

Four CHI hospitals are among the top 100 in the U.S. for cardiovascular care, according to Thomson Reuters. In its annual study of cardiovascular care, Thomson Reuters examined the performance of 971 hospitals by analyzing outcomes for patients with heart failure or heart attacks and for those who received coronary bypass surgery or percutaneous cardiovascular interventions, such as angioplasties. Among the hospitals setting national benchmarks for cardiovascular care are Good Samaritan Hospital, Cincinnati, OH; Mercy Medical Center, Des Moines, IA; Saint Joseph – London, London, KY; and St. Joseph Medical Center, Towson, MD. “These hospitals provide balanced high performance across cardiovascular services,” said Jean Chenoweth, SVP for performance improvement and 100 Top Hospital programs at Thomson Reuters. “This means they are providing high quality and highly efficient services at a reasonable cost.”
