Mercy-Des Moines Recognized for Wellness, Economic Impact

Dave Vellinga, senior vice president of divisional operations and CEO of Mercy Health Network, accepts a 2009 Economic Impact Award from representatives of The Greater Des Moines Partnership.

Mercy Medical Center, Des Moines, IA, received awards for wellness in the workplace and for having a positive effect on the local economy. Mercy received its third consecutive Gold Well Workplace Award from The Wellness Council of America, recognizing Mercy’s comprehensive program for promoting health in the workplace. Mercy also received a 2009 Economic Impact Award from the Greater Des Moines Partnership, recognizing its contribution to the local economy in terms of job creation, capital investment and facility expansion. Mercy recently opened Mercy Medical Center-West Lakes in West Des Moines, designed to provide an optimal healing environment.
